Who we are

Boston Executive Search Associates, Inc., doing business as ESA (“ESA,” “we,” “us”), is a legal recruiting firm based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. We provide lateral hiring services to law firms and to partners and practice groups considering a lateral move. This policy describes the information we handle in the course of that work and the choices available to you.

Information we collect

We maintain professional information about attorneys and law firm personnel, such as name, firm, title, practice area, and business contact details. This information comes from publicly available sources — law firm websites, bar listings, professional directories, and commercial legal-industry data providers — and from individuals who share information with us directly as candidates or clients.

Our website does not require an account, and we do not collect personal information through it beyond what you choose to send us when you contact us.

How we use information

We use professional information solely to provide recruiting services: to identify and contact attorneys about career opportunities, to assist law firm clients with searches, and to advise candidates through the lateral move process. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Our work is confidential by design. We do not present a candidate’s materials or identify a candidate to a client firm without that candidate’s consent.

How we communicate

Our outreach consists of business-to-business professional communications: live, individually dialed telephone calls and personal emails from our recruiters to attorneys and law firm personnel at their business contact points. We do not make telemarketing or sales calls, and we do not use automatic dialers, prerecorded or artificial voice messages, or ringless voicemail.

If you prefer not to hear from us, tell any of our recruiters or contact us using the information below, and we will mark your record do-not-contact and suppress you from future outreach.

Sharing and service providers

We share information only as needed to provide our services — for example, with a client firm once a candidate has consented to be introduced — and with the service providers that operate our systems, such as cloud hosting and telephony providers, which are permitted to use it only on our behalf. We may also disclose information where required by law.

Retention and security

We retain professional records for as long as they are useful to our recruiting work, and we take reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect them, including access controls and encrypted systems.

Your choices

You may ask us at any time to review the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop contacting you. Reach us at the contact points below and we will respond promptly.
